Department Overview:

New Model Launch is responsible for the introduction of a new model to an active Production Line and ensuring the Quality of the car allows it to be shipped to the first customers at the start of Job1

 

Job Purpose:

Complete root cause analysis on issues found during the pre-series build phases.  Ownership of ensuring that containments and Permanent Corrective Actions are identified, implemented and confirmed.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve an effective and acceptable solution to Pre-production build issues cross functionally.
  • Escalate all build issues for which no solution can be found within a set time period or pose a risk to respective build phase and / or Job1
  • Lead concern wash-up meetings confirming the root cause and agree ownership
  • Update, maintain and present relevant KPI’s in forums, when necessary
  • Manage containment process throughout the build and into Job1
  • Responsible for non-R&D concern progression from start to completion
  • Lead the production readiness process for nominated build location.
  • Manage the impact on projects to achieve build timing and Ok to Build

 

Experience & Education:

Essential:

 

  • The role requires wider business knowledge, especially understanding the launch requirements for R&D, Program and Quality.
  • Experience/demonstrable knowledge of vehicle assembly.
  • Problem solving skills are required (application of current problems solving procedure)
  • Autonomy In decision making

 

Preferred:

  • 6 Sigma accreditation or other sound knowledge of other problem-solving methodologies is preferable.
  • Sound working knowledge of 5Whys, L0, Fishbones
  • 6 Sigma accreditation/ NVQ in automotive production
