Department Overview:
Electrified powertrain team is responsible for the development of Hybrid and Electric Propulsion Systems. This includes the key High Voltage (HV) vehicle system components including Battery Pack, eMotors, Inverters, DCDC converters and On-Board Chargers.
Job Purpose:
To be responsible for the on-time delivery of the diagnostic specifications and implementation for all of the HV components for all the AML programs
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To define, own and deliver diagnostics for the HV components of the car
- Liaise with HV component owners and assist them on defining the necessary information for diagnosing potential faults on individual components.
- Function: Lead generation and delivery of robust technical specifications and timing plans for Testing requirements, diagnostic scripts, and programming diagnostic tools
- Testing & Development: Specifying testing for diagnostic suite. Vehicle testing and toolbox programming and development
- Support team with data acquisition and fault finding
- Establish regular design reviews with cross functional teams and support test rig planning and execution
- Cross-functional working with other R&D departments to define associated LV systems to achieve vehicle requirements
- To support relevant requests with Patents and Intellectual Property teams
- Train, coach and present technical information at all levels and share the knowledge throughout AML
- Develop and record best practices and support development of design manuals to handle the Electrified Powertrain requirements of today and the future
Experience & Education:
The essential areas of previous experience required to undertake this role include:
- Deep Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics
- Extensive knowledge of automotive CAN/Flexray/LIN, ISO26262, AUTOSAR
- Extensive knowledge of software lifecycle, design, test & deployment of code
- Knowledge and use of automated build and test tools
- Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronic and/or related field
Preferred areas of experience include:
- Experience in working with multiple stakeholders at all levels of diagnostic software development
- Experience of high voltage systems including HV battery, Power Electronics & On-board charging systems
- Experience of associated HV systems including thermal management
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
- Knowledge of component hardware and software
- Testing of EV powertrain and Hybrid system
- Knowledge of sensors, motors and actuators
- Extensive knowledge of powertrain, hybrid & associated electrical systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical designs
- Enabling a technical environment to support project delivery at speed and within budget
- Customer-oriented and project-proven, with a hands-on approach for personal engagement
- Hands on experience of the product development process, learning solutions and the development of technical skills
- Excellent analytic and communication skills with the ability to work independently
- Awareness of HV health & safety
- Ability to create clear and traceable documentation
- Highly organised individual demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail
- Experience of Matlab/Simulink, C, C++, Python, Verilog, GNU Octave, XML & Git

Additional requirements:
Ability to travel to engineering partners and suppliers (UK and worldwide) on a regular basis to advance product development is essential. Driving licence and medical clearance to use high speed tracks and hot and cold environmental chambers if required to support development activities.
