Job Purpose:

  • Manage and direct cross-functional team to deliver Closures & BIW to quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Work in close partnership with the Engineering Managers to develop the Closures & BIW to meet programme targets.
  • Build strong influential relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to overcome obstacles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Programme team with data to prepare reports as necessary in line with Programme Gateway requirements.
  • Manage platform and model variants cost prediction/status, demonstrating tool/piece (total and yearly spend) optimisation for business requirements.
  • Develop high-level commodity plans in response to SEL and to support construction of VPP.
  • Develop high-level commodity costs in response to SEL to support cost target setting.
  • Cascade Level 1 programme targets to Engineering Managers and support creation of cascaded targets.
  • Working in conjunction with Purchasing and commodity engineers to develop strategic supply base.
  • Work closely with supplier interface engineers to ensure all aspects of Quality, Cost, and Delivery are supplied to programme timing for their owned commodities.
  • Create and Manage 5-year commodity strategy plans and get relevant new technologies to IR within agreed function budget and timing.
  • Employ the 5-year commodity strategy plans with purchasing to ensure innovation and competitiveness.
  • Support the technical issue resolution for all issues arising throughout the lifetime of the product.
  • Share and develop best practice in design, development, and issue resolution with other Closures & BIW VLM’s.
  • Lead the cross functional commodity team to resolve issues and decision making to ensure the best balance of cost, quality, and delivery.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Project Management experience within automotive engineering / product development.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of Closures & BIW systems and components.
  • Extensive experience in body structures or directly relevant body engineering.
  • Experience of leadership of cross-functional team to delivery to quality cost and delivery targets.
  • Experience in project delivery from concept to serial production.
  • Working knowledge of AMPCS / MISSION or similar Product Creation Process.
  • Experience of directly or indirectly leading purchasing, quality, or manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Experience in the use of aluminium and composite materials applied to BIW & Closures, including sheet metal pressings, castings, composites.
  • Knowledge of Aston Martin Body Constructions methods.
  • Knowledge on Siemens NX CAD system desirable.
  • Knowledge of Siemens TeamCenter PLM Systems.
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent).
