About Your Role
Scope has an exciting and unique opportunity for a Speech Pathologist (Non-Electronic Communication Aid Service- NECAS) to work within our Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre division.
In your role, you will be responsible for providing speech pathology (direct and consultancy) to improve outcomes for adults and children with complex communication needs.
Your Key Focus
Reporting into the NECAS Coordinator, you will be:
- Providing direct speech pathology consultation to children and adults and their circles of support to provide advice and support to customise non electronic communication aids
- Delivering training or consultancy to internal and external stakeholders
- Implementing and complete a range of capacity building projects
- Working within a range of funding models, including NDIS and fee-for service (B2B – Business-to-business)
What We Look For
- Hold a relevant qualification (Speech Pathology)
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in similar environment (clinical experience with children or adults in a range of models of service provision, particularly with people with complex communication needs)
- Previous experience working within disability, human services or community sector – Highly desirable
- Be a certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive Augmentative & Alternative (AAC) systems and multi-modal communication. Experience with Pragmatic Organisational Dynamic Display (PODD©) communication books, Key Word Sign (KWS) and Talking Mats™ would be preferable.
- Have an understanding and sensitivity to the rights and dignity of people with disabilities in line with current legislation
- A demonstrated ability to write concise reports targeted for specific purposes
