An exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our Mental Health Unit kitchen
In this role you will be responsible for the preparation and serving of nutritious and appetising meals for patients, staff, functions, and visitors of the hospital. You will ensure food quality and maintain hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with all aspects of the Food Safety Standards Australia and New Zealand.
Flexibility is required to work across a rotating roster period which may involve weekdays, weekend, and public holidays.
The duties include but are not limited to.
- Ensuring all meals are presented in appropriate proportion, of the correct temperature and according to the Joondalup Health Campus Food Safety Program and State Nutritional Guidelines.
- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the Food Safety Standards Australia New Zealand.
- Demonstrate awareness and ability to meet the dietary needs of all customers ensuring ingredients are accurately measured to meet specific dietary needs.
- Ensure a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Assist in the ordering of all food stock, ingredients, supplies and equipment as requested.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following.
- Trade certificate or equivalent in commercial cookery.
- Minimum 3 years post qualification experience required.
- Being responsive and sensitive to customer information, their needs and wants.
- Well versed in matters of food safety/HACCP principles, infection control.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with or without supervision.
- Ability to use computer-based menu, allergen and meal ordering systems. (training will be provided)
- Sound skills in time management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, telephone skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to undertake PART training.

Requirements
- Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
