Primary purpose:

As a Financial Accountant, your role is to ensure the information in the P&L’s is accurate by communicating with the relevant Managers and to meet the month deadlines.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly P&L’s for a number of sites, ensuring cost and revenue recognition is accurately represented in the P&L’s.
  • Provide financial analysis of month end results and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Respond to financial inquires by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger by overseeing AP/AR processes and compliance with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Build a good working relationship with the site by regular visits.
  • Complete annual budget and weekly forecast for each site.
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations pertaining to the Ports BU accounts, ensuring high quality, on time, supportable reconciliations with independent review and sign off.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and related schedules and complete annual asset stocktakes.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and solutions to the Operations team.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate finance team in relation to supporting financial reporting obligations, tax compliance, payroll and treasury, insurance and other team members.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Logistics and Infrastructure and Bulk finance teams to better manage intercompany transactions.
  • Any other ad hoc work that is required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Finance related discipline
  • Post graduate qualifications and membership of a recognised accounting body (i.e.. CA or CPA).
  • Must have very strong IFRS knowledge.
  • Not be afraid to raise issues and bring ideas to the table.
  • Experience in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and PowerPoint;

Essential:

  • Circa 5+ years similar experience in a large multi divisional company
  • Big 4 audit background or prior ASX listed reporting experience
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Able to work to deadlines and manage a number of competing priorities
  • Strong orientation to process improvement / change management
  • Self-motivated, energetic, able to work independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • A “can do” problem solving attitude
  • Demonstrated professional work ethic with a proven ability to take on new challenges and be able to adapt to change
  • Good systems and process skills and/or ability to develop those as the role requires and evolves

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Qube’s operations
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP/EPM/FCCS
