The Director of Engineering shall work under the direction of the Executive Dean of Science, Engineering, & Math, and shall provide oversight of purchasing, receiving, engineering department budgets and grants, course scheduling, marketing, transfer engineering student advising and extracurricular activity oversight, community networking, curriculum development, and oversight of engineering teaching/lab facilities and faculty and department employees. The Director shall maintain commitment to quality instruction, the primary objective of the institution. This leader will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students.
Please note this is a 12-month position.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed Master’s degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution.
- Seven years of engineering related experience.
- Three years of teaching and online instruction experience at a postsecondary institution.
- Experience of interdepartmental functions; including purchasing, budgets, networking, community and public relations.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution.
- Four or more years of teaching at a postsecondary institution.
- Supervisory experience.
- Curriculum development.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.

Essential Functions
- Oversee and manage duties relating to engineering department purchasing, receiving, budgeting and grants.
- Oversight of engineering teaching and laboratory facilities for transfer degree programs.
- Faculty and employee oversight in Engineering transfer degree programs.
- Engineering curriculum and program design.
- Strategic course scheduling.
- Community networking and coordination with university partners.
- Program marketing and information sessions.
- Engineering student advising and support of extracurricular activities.
- Other duties as required or directed by the Executive Dean.

- Establish clear and logical goals and objectives.
- Responsible for the oversight of all equipment, training needs, and general engineering and grant budgets.
- Responsible for internal planning, administration and program development, and also external relations with other program divisions, departments, agencies, and the general public.
- Responsible for new and existing articulations.
- Review industry trends, identify employer needs, and program data reports.
- Maintains program needs and communication.
- Assist with student advising for transfer engineering program.
