Job Description

Reporting to the Roofing Supervisor, the Roofing Lead Worker will perform and provide direction as a working lead craftsperson for a crew of roofers in the installation and maintenance of commercial roofing systems such as Standing Seam and other types of metal roofing, EPDM, TPO and PVC on the VT campus.

Required Qualifications

Verifiable journeylevel experience in commercial roofing required. Experience installing and maintaining EPDM, PVC, metal, built-up and ballasted roof systems. Exposure to painting, carpentry and masonry at the journey level highly desirable. Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more; ability to maneuver materials up and down stairs; ability to climb and work from elevated workstations such as ladders and scaffolds; ability to work for long periods of time standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling. Ability to communicate effectively, have good teamwork skills and be able to understand, comprehend and follow directions in the workplace. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department. This is a designated emergency personnel position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a large commercial or educational setting. High school graduate or GED. Good working knowledge of painting, carpentry, and masonry. Experience with TPO roofing systems. Previous Supervisory experience.
