Job Description
Applications are invited for an NIH-funded postdoctoral position in the JK Lifespan Development lab of Dr. Jungmeen Kim-Spoon, in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech (http://www.psyc.vt.edu/labs/jklifespan/). Research in the lab integrates developmental psychopathology and decision neuroscience approaches to investigate emotion, cognition, and personality processes, brain function, psychopathology and health risk behaviors in adolescents and young adults. We use a variety of methods including behavioral tasks, interviews, questionnaires, and functional magnetic resonance imaging to understand developmental trajectories of risk and protective mechanisms that contribute to health and adjustment.
Responsibilities will include (1) conducting advanced statistical analyses and modeling of behavioral and neuroimaging data for scholarly publication, and (2) contributing to ongoing longitudinal data collection and data processing, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and supervising the research coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field. PhD awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Demonstrated proficiency in structural equation modeling and longitudinal data analysis
Demonstrated proficiency in SPSS, Mplus, and R
Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) acquisition and analysis
Experience conducting research with adolescents, young adults, and their families
Overtime Status
