Job Description
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish position to begin August 10, 2026. The standard teaching load is 3/3 courses per academic year. Service duties may include but are not limited to conducting assessments as well as engaging in extracurricular activities and student recruitment.
Required Qualifications
· Ph.D. by time of appointment in Spanish language, literature, culture, language pedagogy, second language acquisition, or related field
· Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish at a range of undergraduate levels to non-native speakers
· Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications
· At least three years of experience teaching Spanish to non-native speakers at the university level
· Familiarity with contemporary second language teaching methodologies
· Knowledge of instructional technologies

Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
