Job Description

The position responsibilities include supporting the BRAVE (Bioaerosol Risk Assessment interVention Engineering) initiative in conducting research in the Durham/Research Triangle Park, NC area.

The position requires the candidate travel between two daycare centers (one in Durham and one in Research Triangle Park) on Monday mornings to change filters and batteries in air samplers. The candidate will then mail the removed filters to a research lab for testing and recharge the batteries. Expected to take 3-4 hours/week.

Required Qualifications

(1) Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or higher degree in a STEM field
(2) Availability Monday mornings at 7:30 am – 10:30 am (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday)
(3) Transportation between two locations
(4) Ability to safely use a small ladder to access items above a ceiling
(5) Precision and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Experience in collecting and handling air samples using standard sampling techniques
(2) Skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining air sampling pumps
(3) Background in aerosol science, including sampling, analysis, and related laboratory methods
