Job Description
The Project Manager provides project management, construction oversight, coordination, and budget administration for Student Affairs renovation and construction projects supporting 2.5M+ sq ft of residence halls housing 10,500+ residents, and another 1+ million sq ft of dining facilities and student centers.
The position is responsible for managing projects throughout all phases including project development, design coordination, procurement, construction administration, project closeout, occupancy coordination, and warranty management. Responsibilities include development of project scopes of work, establishment of design milestones and schedules, coordination with university departments and consultants, monitoring construction activities, management of project documentation and records, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with university standards and the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual.
The successful candidate must maintain strong working relationships with university stakeholders, consultants, contractors, maintenance staff, and regulatory personnel while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Experience managing construction and renovation projects.
• Experience with and knowledge of facility design processes, renovation projects, and construction administration.
• Extensive knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and construction processes with the ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of construction trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and HVAC systems.
• Experience with procurement, budgeting, and fiscal management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and estimate project costs with a high degree of accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and related computer software.
• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and maintain effective working relationships.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and/or BlueBeam software.
Preferred Qualifications
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Architectural Intern designation/licensure.
• Experience with public procurement and administrative processes.
• Higher education facilities experience.
• Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office products.
• Experience and knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM).

Additional Information
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 am through 4:30 pm and occasional evening or weekend work as required by project schedules.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check with a safe driving record.
