Job Description
We’re currently searching for a Coordinator for Student Experiences and Engagement Engineer to join our Student Engagement and Campus Life team in Blacksburg, VA, to help us in our mission. Here’s what you need to know about the role:
1) You’ll be joining the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team, a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments, promoting holistic well-being, and providing exceptional services, programs, and facilities
2) You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Experiences in a regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) You’ll be responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of events (large and small scale), with a focus on evening programs for undergraduate students, our Tuesday Night Takeover (TNT) team, aligning with our Hokies After Dark initiative;
coaching and supervising student employees to build community and exceptional social and educational experiences for all students; and engaging directly with students and colleagues across campus through continuous collaborations and partnerships.
4) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
5) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $50,000-$52,000 and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in education, administration/management, business
management, higher education, or a related field.
● Demonstrated understanding of event planning and execution with small and large-scale events.
● Demonstrated understanding of the role of a supervisor and mentorship in
the lives of undergraduate student staff members.
● Demonstrated experience fostering diverse and inclusive environments
and establishing positive, productive working relationships with diverse
groups of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
● Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
● Demonstrated capacity and skill in organizing a wide range of varied
tasks efficiently and effectively.
● Demonstrated experience and skill in public relations and event
communications.
● Experience in student affairs with demonstrated experience in large and
small-scale programming and working with university policy.
● Budgetary oversight experience.

Additional Information
Work schedule: 8:00 am -5:00 pm, Monday-Friday; Nights and Weekends as needed.
