Job Description

The Director of Information Technology for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) provides strategic leadership for the college's technology vision, governance, service delivery, and mission-driven computing needs. This position serves as the primary liaison between CALS and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), ensuring that technology investments, services, and priorities support the college's teaching, research, Extension, and outreach missions.

The Director leads technology governance, develops strategic technology roadmaps, advances research computing and data science capabilities, oversees service management and performance, and provides leadership for CALS-based technology personnel operating within a matrixed service delivery model. The position maintains dual accountability to both CALS leadership and the Division of Information Technology and serves as a key advisor on technology strategy, innovation, and organizational effectiveness.

This position operates within a matrixed organizational structure and maintains a dual reporting relationship to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Division of Information Technology. The Director serves as a strategic leader and liaison between the two organizations, ensuring alignment of institutional priorities, technology standards, and mission-focused service delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree, or a combination of education, training, and progressive experience that equates to a Master's degree.
• Progressively responsible experience in information technology leadership, including experience supervising professional staff.
• Experience leading information technology functions, programs, or services in a complex organization.
• Experience developing and implementing technology strategy, governance, or organizational technology initiatives.
• Experience managing technology projects, programs, or service portfolios.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups to identify and prioritize technology needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Experience in higher education, research, Extension, or other mission-driven organizations.
• Experience supporting research computing, high-performance computing (HPC), research data management, or data science initiatives.
• Experience supporting instructional technologies, digital learning environments, or classroom technologies.
• Experience working within a matrixed or shared-services technology environment.
• Experience with IT service management frameworks, service-level agreements (SLAs), or service performance reporting.
• Experience managing technology budgets, investments, or resource allocation decisions.
