Job Description
Work under the direction and guidance of Buckingham County Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Agents to assist in the delivery of research-based educational programs. Collaborate with Extension faculty, staff, volunteers, and community partners to support the implementation of quality VCE programming and contribute to the overall operation of the Buckingham Extension Office. This position provides programmatic and administrative support for both youth and adult audiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist Extension Agents in delivering educational programs that promote self-sufficiency among youth and adults, including topics such as home gardening, small-scale livestock, heritage arts (e.g., food preservation, sewing), and related subject areas.
• Support Agents in strengthening youth readiness for life and work through hands-on learning and career exploration in agriculture, healthy living, STEM, and civic engagement.
• Provide support for programs that enhance youth and adult well-being, including financial literacy and resource management education.
• Assist Agents in educational efforts that promote sustainable and science-based agricultural practices that improve productivity while protecting natural resources.

Required Qualifications
● Working knowledge of job-related subject matter.
● Ability to support group facilitation, assist with program planning, and contribute to program evaluation under supervision.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with broad audiences.
● Ability to use technology to assist with educational programming and administrative tasks.
● Ability to follow direction and work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as part of a team.
● Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and commitment to supporting clientele and program goals.
● Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to various program sites.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience supporting Cooperative Extension or community-based educational programs.
● Experience working with youth and/or adults in educational or outreach settings.
● Experience assisting with volunteer coordination and program logistics.
● Ability to support needs assessments and assist with program implementation and evaluation.
