The Director of Digital Marketing & Revenue will lead digital marketing and revenue strategy within the Revenue & Digital Innovation team. This position will oversee digital initiatives that drive ticket sales, retention, fan engagement, donor engagement and other revenue-generating opportunities across Virginia Tech Athletics.

The Director will provide strategic leadership across email, marketing automation, paid media, SMS, web, mobile app and other digital channels, while serving as a key collaborator across Ticket Sales & Service, Marketing & Fan Experience, Communications, Creative, Operations and external partners. The position will lead high-priority departmental projects, develop innovative digital strategies, and use data and analytics to continually improve performance.

The Director will also provide leadership and mentorship to interns and other members of the digital team. They will serve as a secondary strategic lead for football campaigns, primary lead for men’s basketball, and will support the development and execution of digital marketing and revenue initiatives across the department. This position will report directly to the Associate AD / Revenue.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, marketing, communications, sports management, business or a comparable field with significant experience, or a master's degree.
Experience working in college athletics, professional sports or another highly competitive sports environment.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated digital marketing strategies across multiple channels.
Demonstrated experience with marketing automation, email marketing, and digital advertising platforms.
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong copywriting, editing, communication, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing interns, student employees, or other team members.
Ability to work outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as required by the athletics calendar.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in digital marketing, revenue strategy, marketing automation, or a related field.
Experience with Eloqua, WMT, Attentive or comparable email, marketing automation, SMS and digital marketing platforms.
Experience developing digital strategies specifically tied to ticket sales, season ticket renewals, retention and revenue generation.
Experience managing paid media campaigns across social, display, OTT, and other digital advertising channels.
Experience leading cross-functional projects and managing external vendors or agency partners.
