Title: First-Year Experience AESOP Coordinator (Temporary)
Position Purpose: Bates College is seeking a First-Year Experience AESOP Coordinator to oversee the Annual Entering Students Orientation Program (AESOP) that is an essential part of new student orientation. AESOP is the largest student program at Bates College in which upwards of 400 incoming students participate in one of 62, three day, new student orientation trips ranging from backpacking in Baxter State Park, to culinary explorations in Maine. The First-Year Experience AESOP Coordinator should be an enthusiastic, adaptive, and self-motivated individual with experience in student leadership, risk management, outdoor recreation, and both small and large-scale program planning. The Assistant Manager for AESOP will develop leadership training, manage budgets, plan trips, oversee gear management, implement risk management practices, and communicate with campus partners, students, and families. The First-Year Experience AESOP Coordinator also supports the implementation of Leadership Week & AESOP trips, managing the AESOP website, responding to email inquiries, and supporting other areas of outdoor education and First-Year Experience programs. This is a temporary position up to 10 weeks. |
