Title: Catering Waitstaff On-Call

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for following food safety and sanitation procedures and demonstrating positive relationships with individuals and groups with varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills. Ability to work as part of a dynamic team that embraces communication and inclusiveness is essential to the candidates’ success. Exemplary organizational and time management skills, outstanding customer service skills, and attention to detail are a must.

Job Duties:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Performs catering related duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to gathering, delivering, setting up, serving, and breaking down events.  Returning and restocking equipment in Commons.

Teamwork & Professionalism:

  • Maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through clear, two-way communication and a respect for diversity.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the Dining department and the broader institution.
  • Attend monthly Dining, Conferences, and Campus Events town meetings, as well as monthly sector meetings.
  • Assists in other areas of the operation as needed and performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to sound environmental practices, including composting, recycling, and waste reduction.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and ensure all injuries are reported within 24 hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience

Previous experience in catering desired.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must.
  • Ability to relate well to individuals with varying backgrounds, education and skills.

  • Understand and thrives in a high volume food service environment.
