About the Role:
The Community Development Coordinator is part of the wider Community Services Team, focusing on creating and implementing community strengthening programs, utilising trauma-informed, strengths-based, and harm minimisation approaches to design initiatives. The Coordinator collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver and implement community-based programs and promote opportunities to be a part of advocacy.
Role Purpose:
The Community Development Coordinator will enable and support the work of the BaptistCare HopeStreet Team and the Together in 2770 Collective to achieve our goal for Mount Druitt: All children start school well in Mount Druitt.
The Community Development Coordinator listens deeply to community to gain an understanding of the local priorities, aspirations and issues. In response, this role focuses on building the capacity and leadership of the local community aligning with what they’ve heard and supports community-led advocacy. They also design and deliver suburb level engagement activities and events with the purpose of building the BaptistCare HopeStreet's relationships and trust within local communities.

About You:
- Degree minimum qualification, or a Diploma and experience in Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, or relevant discipline
- Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing marginalisation and vulnerability
- Demonstrated experience in participatory community program design and delivery
- Demonstrated experience facilitating community engagement, consultation and codesign
- Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare’s Christian identity and promote the organisation’s values through interactions at work
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding of and commitment to social justice and community development
- Ability to work from trauma-informed, strengths-based and harm minimisation frameworks
- Ability to develop and manage effective programs, including design, delivery and ongoing review
- Ability to develop safe, inclusive and engaging spaces with a strong sense of community
- Ability to walk alongside community to achieve their goals
- Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with local stakeholders, including other organisations and the community
- High level of initiative.
- Holds a current and valid Working with Children Check
- Current Drivers’ License
