About your new role: 

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our team at our David Buttfield Centre in Gwelup. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks and project managing external contractors to ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest standards. This role is ideal for a capable multitasker who thrives on achieving goals quickly, within specified timeframes and budgets.

Duties: not limited to 

  • Manage site maintenance programs including preventative, planned, and reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety policies and relevant legislation.
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting and manual handling of deliveries.
  • Address minor repairs promptly and coordinate with external contractors as needed.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with team members.
  • Assist in onboarding and supervising external contractors.
  • Assist in producing organisational reports and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as required, including working from alternative locations.

To be considered you will have: 

  • Trade or tertiary qualification
  • Previous maintenance/handyman/gardening experience 
  • Basic competency in painting
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
  • Knowledge of current Aged Care Standards & OSH regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new applications
  • Empathy, flexibility and patience with aged people and their needs
  • You have a hands-on approach with a "can do attitude"
  • Confidence using hand power tools including Lawn and Gardening tools
  • Willingness to obtain chemical handling training
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Experience in an Aged Care or Health Care environment- desirable.
