About The Opportunity
The Technical Program Manager (TPM) for FCM Japan will play a crucial hands-on role in managing and executing our technology and finance systems, ensuring alignment with both global strategies and local business objectives. The TPM will be the go-to person for all technical matters, engaging directly with internal teams and key customers to implement solutions efficiently. This role will require the TPM to actively participate in and drive the execution of technical programs, while collaborating with global and regional stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of technology initiatives.
This position requires a proactive individual with a solid background in technology, stakeholder management, and program delivery, with an emphasis on hands-on involvement. While experience in finance and travel is preferred, it is not essential. Fluency in Japanese is required to effectively engage with local stakeholders and manage customer expectations.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Engagement
As the primary technical liaison for FCM Japan, you will not only interact with internal stakeholders and key customers but also directly manage the implementation of their technology needs. You will take ownership of ensuring that operational needs and strategic objectives are met through hands-on execution of technical tasks. - Customer and Internal Stakeholder Management
You will be responsible for managing customer interactions on tech-related matters, ensuring that customer requirements are not only understood but also directly translated into deliverable solutions. In this role, you will be expected to personally take charge of key technical tasks, ensuring seamless communication between customers and internal teams, while executing solutions efficiently and addressing challenges quickly. - Program Management with a Focus on Execution
You will oversee the entire lifecycle of technical programs, from project initiation to final delivery, with a focus on hands-on involvement. This includes executing key program tasks, managing project timelines, allocating resources, and personally ensuring that deliverables are met. Your ability to step in and execute on-the-ground work when needed will be essential to the success of FCM Japan’s technology initiatives. - Technical Expertise & Execution
Your strong technical background will enable you to actively participate in technical tasks, troubleshooting, and system integrations. You won’t be expected to code, but you will directly contribute to the technical execution of projects, ensuring solutions are sound, scalable, and meet FCM’s global technology standards. - Cross-Functional Collaboration
In this role, you will actively collaborate across departments, including IT, finance, operations, and development teams. You will be expected to not only coordinate but also execute tasks to ensure that technical solutions are integrated seamlessly into broader business operations. - Risk & Issue Management
You will take an active role in identifying and mitigating risks, personally managing issue resolution, and ensuring that potential problems are handled efficiently. You will directly oversee the execution of risk mitigation strategies, ensuring timely resolution of technical challenges and keeping stakeholders informed. - Strategic Planning with a Focus on Execution
While working with Regional Department Heads to align FCM Japan’s technology strategy with broader business goals, you will also be directly involved in executing critical components of the strategy. This will require you to balance high-level planning with operational execution, ensuring that technical solutions are both innovative and practical.
Job Requirements & Competencies:
- Bilingual Communication
Fluency in both Japanese and English is required to manage local stakeholders effectively and to collaborate with global teams. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, in both languages, will be essential to your success in this role. - Stakeholder Engagement
Proven ability to engage with senior executives and stakeholders at both a strategic and operational level. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will need to balance business needs with technical realities, ensuring that all parties are aligned. - Technical Knowledge
A solid understanding of technology, including system design, architecture, and cloud-based solutions. Experience with finance and travel systems is preferred but not required. - Project Management
Strong project management skills are essential, including managing complex programs and executing tasks directly. Familiarity with agile methodologies is a plus.

We’d love to hear from you if you have...
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, system integration and program delivery.
- Fluency in Japanese and English.
- Experience in the travel or finance industry is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a track record of managing cross-functional teams and delivering successful programs.
