The Opportunity

The Buildings and Property (BPD) division here at Monash provide facility management and support services for the teaching, research and business functions of the University. Within BPD sits Campus Development who are responsible for all planning and capital delivery works of new innovative and world class projects and major refurbishments on all Victorian campuses.

The Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) is a circa $550m State led initiative that will bring together the world’s best in cardiovascular care, research and training to Monash University in Clayton. A fully functional hospital, this facility will also be home to ground-breaking medical research, and will train the next generation of Victorian heart specialists.

We are now seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the simultaneous end-to-end delivery of a range of complex projects relating to the VHH whilst acting as the first point of contact for the project management team in areas of stakeholder management, procurement, master planning, design requirements and infrastructure.  Reporting to the Director, Campus Development, you will be responsible for delivering projects in accordance with agreed time-frames, within budget and aligned to strategic aspiration to achieve necessary business outcomes. Successful discharge of the role will see an effective integration of the Victorian Heart Hospital and minor works expenditure create long term assets and infrastructure that add value to the key functions of the university and the experience of students, staff and other stakeholders.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing the day to day relationship with the Department of Health and Human Services and other VHH stakeholders. In addition, you will manage a number of VHH related projects from conception to final delivery. You will provide leadership to team members, provide coaching support to project initiators and strategically control, manage and resolve any issues, risks, dependencies and changes in scope associated with the projects. You will also be responsible for managing and supervising consultants and contractors, prepare specialised reports, undertake research and engage with senior stakeholders.

You will have postgraduate qualifications in project or facilities management or another relevant discipline, and/or extensive relevant experience across all minor works, large and complex buildings, refurbishments, construction works and infrastructure as well as knowledge of relevant building and accessibility codes.
