The Opportunity

We are seeking two enthusiastic, creative and collaborative Subject Librarians, one to work as part of a team with subject responsibility for the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (MNHS) and the other to work in a fixed-term position as part of the teams with subject responsibilities for the Faculties of Information Technology and Business and Economics. The Library is a leader in the development of information research and learning skills where Subject Librarians collaborate with library colleagues and academic staff to embed skills development in faculty curricula. This position provides face to face and online information research services and skill development programs and resources, including expert advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Library’s Research and Learning Point and remotely.

The Library builds outstanding research collections and provides leadership in scholarly communication through research data management and capturing, disseminating and promoting Monash’s research output through the Research Repository and Monash University Publishing. In this role, you will contribute to the management of research collections and provide high-level advice to researchers in this field, in particular, in relation to good data practice, utilisation of digital technologies in research, and research communication tools and metrics. Previous experience in providing advice relating to systematic reviews is also desirable for the MNHS Subject Librarian role.

Subject librarians work closely with academic staff to lead change and further library goals. This role requires experience in development and delivery of skill development programs including development of engaging eLearning content, extensive liaison and negotiation with academic staff, and excellent communication and collaboration within Library and faculty teams.

Applicants should be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

If this sounds like a position that suits your current career focus we look forward to hearing from you.

The two advertised positions are both full-time; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
