The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the newly established ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Fragment Based Design. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team, working with industry partners and international collaborators on fragment-based drug design projects.

The candidate's responsibilities:

  • Conduct the research program in the lab under minimal supervision and mentorship that will be given by the Group Leader
  • Supervise students in the lab and to apply for fellowship applications and competitive funding, when applicable
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating across specialisations
  • Develop and utilise cutting-edge approaches in structure-guided fragment-based drug design, while complying with OHS guidelines
  • Generate results and write manuscripts that will be published as research papers in high-impact journals
  • Present results at major conferences and meetings, including to industry partners

The candidate's attributes:

Our ideal candidate will have a PhD in structural biology, with expertise in NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray crystallography. Ideally you will have experience in determining the structures of small molecule-protein complexes. Experience in the expression and purification of proteins, and/or in the biophysical characterisation of protein-ligand binding would be preferred.

For this position you will have demonstrated proposal preparation skills, experience in supervising and working with honours or postgraduate students within the discipline, and excellent organisational skills.

Flexibility to travel to project partners inter-state will be required.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
