The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services for perinatal women.

The Opportunity

Exciting opportunities exist within The Nursing and Midwifery Division to join us as a Registered Nurse (Mental health).

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing and/or midwifery services in a health service setting.
  • Assess patient needs and coordinate services from various agencies and disciplines.
  • Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Provide health education to clients/patients or other parties to improve individual and community health outcomes.
  • Participate in evaluative research activities within the practice setting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current enrolment in an approved mental health course or holding a qualification in mental health practice.
  • possession of a practicing certificate from the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Skilled at prioritizing workload.
  • Dedicated to consumer/client and family-centered care.
  • Understanding of the role of a Registered General Nurse/Midwife.
  • Knowledge about relevant legislation, standards, ethics, and competency standards.
