About the role

The Manager, Aboriginal Health is a leadership role within SAPHS to implement and embed a stronger and more sustainable approach to support its Aboriginal clinical workforce. The incumbent will ensure culturally sensitive and clinically safe healthcare is provided to patients across the continuum of health services through the leadership and mentoring of staff who are providing an ‘Aboriginal lens’ to the delivery of culturally safe care in the correctional setting. With guidance and support, the manager will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care teams and will assess and provide clinical intervention to Aboriginal patients/ consumers, especially those with complex needs. The service they provide will aim to reduce the risk of Aboriginal patients disengaging with treatment and care plans. They will provide acute and sub-acute health responses, support hospital avoidance and arrange for care to be provided closer to home services.

The Manager will provide clinical leadership and support education in clinical interventions, assessment, care planning and safely supporting independent management of health conditions within their own scope of practice.
