Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Therapist - Make a Difference in Mental Health Care

As a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Therapist, you will have the opportunity to positively impact individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation. Utilizing your expertise in DBT, you will provide evidence-based interventions through individual therapy, DBT group programs and consultation with the multidisciplinary treatment team. This rewarding role allows you to make a meaningful difference in the mental health and well-being of people within a supportive team environment.

About the role: 

Working as the Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Therapist, some of your duties may involve: 

  • Providing proficient, person centred, DBT related education and interventions.
  • Working within a supportive team to deliver DBT services to people accessing mental health services.
  • Participating in the review of the effectiveness of DBT within SALHN mental health services.
  • Contributing to the support of other DBT clinicians via the DBT consult group process, as well as utilizing this opportunity for reflective practice.

Please note: This position is multi-classed as either RN2C or AHP2 and classification will be determined by qualifications and/or experience. 

About you:

  • (RN2C):
    • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate.
    • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice. 
    • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience. 
    • Demonstrated competence in DBT  nursing practice and in applying evidence-based DBT interventions. 
  • (AHP2):
    • Must hold an honours degree or equivalent recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and hold general registration with PsychBA.
    • Appropriate degree or equivalent registration which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
    • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. 
    • Demonstrated skills regarding the implementation and review of therapy programs. 
    • Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in a clinical role with a mental health service. 
    • demonstrated interest in Dialectic Behaviour Therapy.
