SA Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-time, ongoing Aboriginal Community Rehabilitation Officer at the Trevor Parry Centre, Mental Health Services, within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN).

About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, their families, and communities to provide culturally appropriate rehabilitation services. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive care plans, facilitating group programs, and advocating for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. Duties for the role will include:

  • Working closely with TPC staff to ensure culturally appropriate support is provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers undertaking rehabilitation.
  • With guidance from clinical staff, offering non-clinical psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers residing at the TPC. Tasks will be of a practical nature, supporting residents to achieve their stated goals and in accordance with their rehabilitation plan.
  • Contributing cultural expertise to the development of TPC service initiatives and processes.

About you:

  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and have strong links to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Ability to engage with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, health workers, and organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop supportive and collaborative relationships with Aboriginal individuals, their families, carers, supports, and communities.
