About the Role
Join La Trobe University’s HR Division as a Senior Workplace Relations Consultant, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping workplace culture and resolving complex employment matters. As part of the Workplace Relations and Injury Support team, you’ll provide expert guidance on workplace relations issues, performance management, industrial disputes, and strategic workforce transitions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, offering high-level strategic advice while engaging with leaders and HR professionals across the University.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on workplace relations matters, including employment law, enterprise agreements, and policy interpretation.
- Lead complex case management, including disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, and dispute resolution.
- Support the University in enterprise bargaining negotiations and advocate in industrial tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission.
- Develop and implement policies, strategies, and training programs to promote best workplace practices.
- Offer strategic advice on organisational change processes, managing industrial impacts, and leading consultation with unions.
About You
We are seeking an experienced and solutions-focused professional with:
- A tertiary qualification in Law, Human Resources, or Industrial Relations, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong expertise in workplace and industrial relations, including the interpretation of employment legislation and enterprise agreements.
- Proven ability to manage complex staff matters, balancing risk and organisational objectives.
- Experience in advocacy before industrial relations bodies (e.g., Fair Work Commission).
- Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
