The Opportunity

In this key role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operational performance across multiple collection streams, leading a team of over 20 staff. Working closely with councils, internal stakeholders and frontline teams, you’ll ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and operational requirements. The position covers multi-site operations, with a depot in Launceston and occasional travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations across kerbside, hard waste and C&I collections
  • Allocate labour and resources, manage absenteeism, leave and performance daily
  • Run toolboxes, provide infield leadership and actively support frontline teams
  • Act as the escalation point for service issues, working closely with councils and building managers
  • Prepare and review daily operational reporting (internal and external), ensuring accurate VMB data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery and drive growth
  • Ensure safety compliance — correct PPE usage, incident prevention, and adherence to company standards

About You

  • Proven experience managing operations in a leadership capacity within a fast-paced, complex environment
  • A strong people leader with experience leading frontline and operational teams
  • Confident stakeholder manager, with experience working with customers, councils, or external partners
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance service delivery, cost control, and performance outcomes
  • Mechanical or fleet knowledge desirable, with the capability to liaise effectively with vendors and service providers
