National Account Manager

About Us

Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together.

We transform waste into resources and renewable energy.  When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities.

As a high growth, ASX listed organisation with over 10,000 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry leading HSE performance.  We are Australia’s largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded National Account Manager to lead and grow a portfolio of high-value, enterprise customers across Cleanaway’s full waste management offering.

This is a pivotal role focused on driving retention, optimising contracts, and unlocking long-term growth opportunities. You’ll operate as a trusted partner to your customers, bringing together multiple service lines and internal stakeholders to deliver cohesive, value-led solutions at a national level.

Given the scale and structure of these accounts, success in this role comes from building influence beyond face-to-face interactions. You’ll confidently manage relationships across geographically dispersed stakeholders, using structured account planning, virtual engagement, and disciplined CRM management to drive outcomes and visibility across your portfolio.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and manage a portfolio of top-tier national accounts as the primary strategic lead
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
  • Lead contract renewals, pricing strategies, and complex commercial negotiations
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans that drive retention, growth, and increased share of wallet
  • Identify and convert cross-service opportunities across Cleanaway’s full suite of solutions
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasting, and pipeline visibility to support informed decision-making
  • Ensure all contractual obligations, safety standards, and governance requirements are consistently met

About You

You are a seasoned account management professional who thrives in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You bring a strategic lens to your customer portfolio, balancing commercial outcomes with long-term relationship value. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, you know how to influence at a senior level and bring together internal capabilities to deliver meaningful results for your customers.

Highly organised and data-driven, you leverage CRM and structured account planning to stay ahead, ensuring no opportunity is missed and every commitment is delivered. You’re equally comfortable leading high-stakes negotiations as you are engaging stakeholders virtually, recognising that managing national accounts requires consistency, discipline, and proactive communication.

  • Proven experience managing large, complex key or national accounts
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including contract and pricing negotiation
  • A consultative, relationship-led approach with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple business units and stakeholder groups
  • High attention to detail, with a strong focus on governance, risk, and compliance
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Why join Cleanaway?

  • Attractive salary package and an opportunity to earn (easily achievable) commissions
  • Career development opportunities
  • Paid parental leave
  • Great company benefits: Annual employee share plan offer, novated leasing through SG Fleet or Smart Group, optional flu vaccinations, EAP access, discounts on private health insurance, company discounts + much more!
