The Opportunity

The IR Compliance team and program is responsible for supporting Cleanaway’s compliance with Enterprise Agreement and Award obligations, primarily relating to wage compliance and pay assurance activities.

As the Compliance Business Analyst (IR), you will play a critical role in supporting and executing pay assurance investigations and remediation activities in line with our compliance strategy and program of work. This role combines IR expertise, analytical capability, and stakeholder engagement to deliver accurate, transparent, and sustainable compliance outcomes.

Working closely with HR, Payroll, Industrial Relations, Operations, Finance, and external advisors, you will help identify, investigate, quantify, and resolve compliance issues while contributing to long-term process improvements and future-proofing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Compliance Program Manager and wider program team to design and facilitate investigation and remediation processes.
  • Support compliant implementation and interpretation of Enterprise Agreement and Award obligations, including preparing options assessments and recommendations for senior leaders and legal counsel.
  • Analyse payroll, rostering, time & attendance, and operational data to identify root causes, remediation requirements, and actionable insights.
  • Design and execute data analysis methodologies, tools, models, and reporting to support investigations and remediation activities.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of remediation calculations and support root cause analysis and future compliance improvements.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and functional teams to develop data constructs, models, and extractions.
  • Partner with IR Managers, Payroll, and external consultants including forensic accountants and legal advisors to investigate and resolve compliance matters.
  • Translate complex industrial relations, legal, and business requirements into practical payroll and data outputs.
  • Act as a key liaison between technical and business stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of issues, risks, and solutions.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, compliance enhancements, and consistency opportunities across the business.

About You

You are a detail-oriented and analytical professional with strong IR and compliance expertise, capable of operating in a complex industrial environment. You bring:

  • Strong experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and industrial instruments.
  • Experience executing large-scale pay investigation and remediation activities within complex operational environments.
  • Strong analytical, data modelling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience analysing payroll and time & attendance data.
  • Knowledge of payroll and T&A systems such as Preceda and Kronos.
  • Advanced technical skills in MS Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar data analysis and visualisation tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and employment-related legislation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, HR, IR, Legal, Finance, or a related field (desirable).

This is a unique opportunity to combine IR expertise, technical data capability, and compliance leadership in a role that directly impacts operational integrity and employee trust.
