About the role
This is a specialist Employee & Industrial Relations legal role with a strong focus on wage compliance, enterprise agreements (EBAs), and award interpretation.
You’ll play a key role in advising the business on complex IR matters, particularly regarding pay compliance, industrial instruments, and risk mitigation. The work is hands-on and meaningful, partnering closely with HR, payroll and operational stakeholders to ensure the correct and consistent application of EBAs and awards across a large, operational workforce.

Key responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on employment and industrial relations matters, on wage compliance
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreements (EBAs), modern awards and other industrial instruments in a practical, business-focused way
- Advise on pay-related obligations, risk and remediation considerations
- Identify and manage compliance risks, particularly across payroll and industrial instruments
- Support the resolution of IR issues and disputes, providing clear and pragmatic advice
- Contribute to improving frameworks, processes and governance to strengthen wage compliance across the business
About you
You’re an IR lawyer who enjoys the technical side of employment law and has a genuine interest in wage compliance and industrial instruments.
- Admitted lawyer in Australia with experience in employment / industrial relations law
- Proven experience interpreting EBAs, awards and industrial instruments
- Strong background in wage compliance
- Comfortable working in a highly operational environment
- Able to provide clear, pragmatic and commercially sound advice to various internal and external stakeholders
- Detail-focused, analytical and motivated by getting complex IR and wage compliance issues right
