Fleet & Logistics Lead

About the Role

As our Fleet & Logistics Lead, you will be at the centre of optimising utilisation, and unlocking cost efficiencies across the fleet. You will influence how we deploy, redeploy, and maximise assets at scale, ensuring every vehicle is working as hard as it should and that is also compliant.

The Fleet & Logistics Lead is responsible for working closely with operations, workshops, and finance teams, you will ensure fleet assets are available, compliant, and fit for service while supporting strategic fleet initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence fleet performance, improve asset allocation, and contribute to the development of a future-ready fleet capability.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Utilisation & Asset Optimisation

  • Monitor and analyse fleet utilisation across regions, depots, and service lines to identify under-utilised or surplus assets.
  • Support fleet right-sizing through data-driven analysis of asset demand, run hours, and service utilisation.
  • Coordinate the redeployment of assets between operations to maximise utilisation and reduce idle fleet.
  • Provide recommendations on fleet allocation, asset substitution, and rationalisation opportunities.

Fleet Availability & Operational Support

  • Partner with operations and workshops to ensure fleet availability aligns with operational requirements.
  • Monitor asset readiness and planned maintenance schedules to minimise operational disruption.
  • Support operational planning through fleet allocation and availability insights.
  • Ensure assets deployed into service are compliant and fit for purpose.

Fleet Logistics & Asset Relocation

  • Coordinate the transfer and relocation of fleet assets between sites in response to changing operational demands.
  • Plan and manage logistics associated with vehicle movements while minimising operational disruption.
  • Maintain accurate records of asset location and allocation.
  • Support rapid redeployment of assets to minimise idle time and maximise utilisation.

Hire Fleet Management & Cost Control

  • Review and validate hire requests to ensure internal fleet options are considered before external hire.
  • Monitor hire fleet utilisation, duration, and spend to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyse patterns of hire dependency and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Maintain visibility of fleet utilisation across the business to support informed decision-making.

Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate fleet data across fleet management systems and asset registers.
  • Ensure utilisation, location, maintenance, and compliance information remains current and accurate.
  • Support fleet governance activities, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of fleet policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
  • Produce regular fleet performance reports covering utilisation, hire spend, asset allocation, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on opportunities to improve fleet performance and reduce operating costs.

About You

You are a collaborative and results-driven professional with strong analytical capability and a passion for operational improvement. You enjoy working with data to solve problems, influence decisions, and deliver practical outcomes across a complex operational environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience in fleet management, logistics, transport, asset management, or a related operational environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret fleet and operational performance data.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting asset utilisation, logistics planning, or fleet optimisation initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective relationships across operational and support teams.
  • Strong organisational and planning capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to governance and data accuracy.
  • Commercial awareness relating to fleet costs, utilisation, and operational efficiency.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills, experience in JDE required.
  • Experience working with fleet management, asset management, or ERP systems
