Department Overview:

The Wisconsin School of Business Multicultural Center is a newly created center located in Grainger Hall room 2250. We are looking for summer interns who are willing to go above and beyond as we pilot physically being open this summer. The Multicultural Center supports students from historically underrepresented backgrounds to center their voices and promote cultural change to build an inclusive community where all students can thrive. The center will be open Monday through Thursday 10am-4pm from May 20th-August 9th, which covers the UW summer term. Schedule:

The center will physically be open a total of 24 hours a week having two interns working a minimum of 12 hours per week. The center will be closed on May 27th and July 4th for Federal Holidays. Once you apply we will have a conversation about the options for work either having an even split between morning (10am-1pm) and afternoon (1-4pm) shifts making a morning intern and afternoon intern the whole summer. Or working the whole day every other day. Such as every Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Again this will be a conversation to ensure equity in schedules.

Qualifications:

Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
Understanding of diversity, equity, and Inclusion practices
Excellent customer service skills
Effective writing and communication skills
Attention to detail, well organized
Punctuality, reliable attendance, and flexibility
Highly motivated to learn about services and resources in the Wisconsin School of Business
A current student not graduating in May 2024

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Understand multiculturalism and diversity on campus
Be able to work well on a team for large scale projects
Ability to work independently for position-specific duties
Knowledge on software programs like excel, teams, and other data and assessment tools
Understand event planning and assessment processes
Critical thinking and problem solving of center operations

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Help in the staffing of the Multicultural Center Front Desk.
Be the main point of contact for room reservations.
Assist in the creation of operational structures and materials.
Assist in design projects of the center, such as technology, furniture, or other needs.
Assist in the digital marketing needs such as flyers or social media posts
Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the space through various duties.
Update the cultural restaurants info sheet.
Research projects such as programs/events and other business school services.
Assist in any Undergraduate Department needs

Physical Demands:

You will be asked to wipe down tables in a timely manner, physically clean and vacuum upholsteries, move furniture around for reservations or events.
