Qualifications:

● High School Diploma
● Currently enrolled in US higher educational institution or have obtained higher educational degree from a US institution.
● Energetic approach to group facilitation and teaching.
● Strong interest in working with diverse communities.
● Strong communication skills and ability to work well with students, administration, and support staff
● Respect for individual differences and individuality.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Experience working with high school students
● Experience with middle or high school students preferred.
● Experience with group facilitation preferred.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Educational Assistant in online international high school program, EducationUSA Academy Connects (https://edusa.wisc.edu/edusaconnects/).

This program runs in two separate, unrelated sessions for four weeks, meeting two times per week for a total of 20 course hours. The EA’s main role is to help facilitate discussion, encourage students to reflect and develop actionable goals using course content as it related to their future goals. The EA will help prepare students for guest speakers, share their own educational experiences, and help students better understand their options in higher education. Interest in and ability to connect with students from around the world, provide an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere, and creatively engage class participants is a must.

EAs may also be responsible for:
● Taking attendance
● Reviewing rough draft submissions and providing feedback on various projects (essay outlines, final project presentations)
● Developing (or modifying) an engaging course with activities and lessons designed to provide high quality and fast-paced learning for advanced middle school students.
● Attending EA trainings and debrief session before and after course completion.

EAs can expect to work with eager, curious students with a strong interest in learning about higher education in the United States.
