The Science Communication and Digital Media Intern will join the research and outreach activities of Prof. Tracey Holloway, and will work to support a range of communication and digital media projects. Students hired through this initiative will join a team of multimedia specialists with different skillsets to help a wide-range of scientific projects develop visual clarity and professionalism. This opportunity provides great professional development and fosters a one-of-a-kind learning environment for individuals who would like to learn more about science communication.
Having experience in one or more of these categories would be preferred: social media, excellent writing skills, marketing, GIS, Python, R, web site design/updating (such as with Wordpress), newsletter management (such as MailChimp or Eloqua), photography, videography, or graphic design. Please specify strengths or experience in these areas in the cover letter. |

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Familiarity designing within a set of guidelines
• Experience working on graphic design or multimedia content

Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
Job duties include:
• Deliver professional, compelling content and/or designs for numerous projects across the department
• Contribute to website design and content management
• Collaborate with scientists to summarize news and updates in various formats (text, social media, video, etc.)
• Collaborate with scientists to help visualize scientific data
• Assist in creative concept development for improving scientific communication across multiple platforms
• Conduct analytics on social media, website, and newsletter performance
• Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing deadlines
