Department Overview:

The Community Economic Development program promotes local economic well-being and quality of life in Wisconsin communities. We work with and support community economic development practitioners and organizations, tribal and governmental entities, and business and nonprofit organizations and help gain access to the information, research, education, and technical assistance necessary to make informed decisions.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled at UW-Madison as an advanced undergraduate or early-stage graduate student for fall and spring FY23/24
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Word Press, HTML, Canva, GIS (a plus), Adobe Illustrator, Qualtrics, Mailchimp
• Employment will require a criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

If you are highly organized, have a strong work ethic and are self-directed in managing projects, are detail-oriented, have good research, and oral and written communication skills, are a strategic thinker, and work well collaboratively, please apply.

Applicants pursuing a degree with some focus on energy (relevant certificates in Energy & Policy, Engineering for Energy Sustainability) in engineering, life sciences communications, sustainability, rural sociology, land use planning, environmental science, and other relevant fields are encouraged to apply. Position Summary/Job Duties:

Exciting opportunity to work with UW-Madison Extension in partnership with UW College Of Engineering and state agencies on helping rural and tribal Wisconsin communities build capacity to access federal funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Be part of the Great Lakes Region Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center (TCTAC) presence in Wisconsin. The internship is funded with a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency through the Inflation Reduction Act and supports Justice40 communities to become more resilient and improve their health and finances as part of the clean energy economy.

Student tasks are to assist with web page design and updates within Energy On Wisconsin https://energyonwi.extension.wisc.edu and Climate Connections, drafting blog posts and featured stories, coordinating listings of grant, training and other offerings with The Great Lakes TCTAC, UW COE and state agencies, mapping (potentially) and data management, information dissemination that may include social media, program organization, and evaluation.
