About the role
In this role you will be working as part of the City’s Community Safety & Regulation team, where your primary function is to facilitate community compliance with state legislation relating to areas of parking and local laws.

This is an outdoor, field based position, that will require you to issue penalty notices relating to parking infringements around the Geelong region, as well as providing education to the community and responding to complaints and queries regarding parking and local laws.

The role incorporates a set component of weekend and after hours work over the course of the year.

Classification: Band 4 $69,560 pa (plus Super and weekend rates)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively facilitate community compliance with all relevant legislation, acts, local laws, regulations and policies associated with the department’s functions.
  • Prepare and issue penalty notices and other necessary regulatory documentation.
  • Liaise with the members of the community at all levels in relation to complaints, enquiries, tourist information and statutory requirements (e.g. parking, local laws, etc.)
  • Investigate and follow up enquiries in relation to offences that occur against relevant local laws, acts and regulations and implement the necessary remedial action.
  • Conduct minor repairs, maintenance and servicing of parking meters and associated equipment in a proactive and responsive manner to ensure their effective operation.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will require previous experience in a customer service role, a high level of resilience and the ability/confidence to interact with a range of different people. We require someone that is engaging, friendly and confident in their abilities, as well as being able to problem solve and think on their feet. You will need to be able to analyse situations, make decisions using sound judgement, but also empathise with community members.

The role will require you to walk for extended periods, therefore requiring level of physical fitness. Previous experience in a similar regulatory role will be highly regarded.

Preferred candidates will be required to complete a National Police Check and undergo a Pre-employment Medical Assessment as part of the recruitment process.
