The after-hours housekeeping worker provides housekeeping duties for the Mining and Minerals Engineering department's Plantation Road facility. This facility houses a variety of sensitive laboratory instruments as well as complex equipment and requires cleaning duties be carried out with great care. Duties may include but are not limited to floor maintenance (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping), dusting, gathering and removal of trash, collecting recycling, cleaning bathrooms, and replenishing supplies. Operates powered and manual cleaning equipment. Reports needed equipment and building repair and any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations. Responsible for the care and handling of housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys. Also responsible for maintaining established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in areas including lobbies, stairs, rest rooms, and other interior spaces.
Experience in light maintenance, and cleaning of institutional, domestic, or commercial areas. Working knowledge of emergency procedures; and commercial/industrial cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment and safety practices. General maintenance skills. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; mix cleaning chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines; operate both manual and electrically powered commercial cleaning equipment. Prior experience in and around mining engineering laboratory and fabrication facilities.
