The social media coordinator and content creator for the College of Natural Resources and Environment will be responsible for creating content for and maintaining the college’s social media platforms. The individual will also produce content such as photography, video, graphics, website content, video monitor slides, and electronic communications for other college communications channels. Functions as an integral member of the college’s Communications Team, which develops and implements projects to achieve the strategic priories of the university, the college, and Advancement. Will coordinate projects from concept to completion and adhere to university and college social media, branding, and style policies and conventions. This is a part-time position (up to 28 hours per week) and the individual must be able to work on the Blacksburg campus at least part of each week.
Demonstrated writing and editing skills and experience.
Demonstrated experience coordinating social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn) and developing social media content for a company or organization.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Google products (Drive, Google docs, Google slides) as well as Adobe products (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier, Spark).
Demonstrated ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as operate in a team-based environment.
Must provide writing and photography samples to be specified at the time of interview.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field or the equivalent level of training and experience.
Demonstrated experience with photography and/or video production.
Demonstrated experience with graphic design.
Demonstrated experience using a website content management system (CMS) and/or customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
Commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check. The supervisor would support a hybrid work schedule. However, the employee must be able to work on the Blacksburg campus at least part of each week.
