Job Description

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, this is a highly skilled position involving the operation of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, Trackhoes, Loaders, Bulldozers, and Excavators in an open pit stone mine operation. The Heavy Equipment Operator will deliver stone to the designated area for processing into appropriate sized stone for installation on buildings. The Heavy Equipment Operator will also deliver stone to storage and construction sites and be responsible for handling delivery tickets. The incumbent will lead equipment operations at the Agnew Quarry when assigned. Performs other quarry operations such as the operation of hydraulic stone breakers, dimensional stone saws, and stone polishing equipment.

Required Qualifications

Experience operating Trackhoes, Loaders, Bulldozers, and Excavators in rugged, rocky and hazardous terrain.| Must have a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. | Must have an acceptable and safe driving record. | Must possess and maintain a DOT medical certification. | Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 100 pounds or more; ability to climb and work from elevated workstations such as trucks, ladders and scaffolds; ability to work for long periods of time sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing/pulling; ability to communicate effectively, have good teamwork skills, and be able to understand, comprehend and follow directions in the workplace. | Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. | May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.|Must be able to pass a Federal background check within the first three months of employment to be classified as an Employee Possessor to comply with the Quarry's Federal Explosives Licenses.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience in the operation of a Dimensional Stone Quarry.| Experience mining and excavating rock for processing and installation on buildings.| Experience handling explosives. | CDL Tanker Endorsement.
