Purpose of the Position:

The Research Engineer provides support for UAS general development and
integration of UAS hardware with AI/ML software.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Serve as an Engineer for UAS general development and integration of
aviation components
• Develop and Maintain integration of UAS AI/ML software and supporting hardware
• Maintain the configuration of integration software and hardware
• Support hands on testing of UAS operations and software functions
• Support program and technical interchange meetings

Minimum Requirements:

**Master's degree - preferably in science, engineering, or business; (Bachelor's and experience in a specialized area may be substituted for a degree); 1 - 2 years full-time work experience.
(Master's degree with 15 - 18 months (1.25 - 1.5 years) of full-time work experience. )
• Computer Programming Languages for Aviation and Aerospace programs
• C++, Python, C#, Java
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certified
• Ability to develop and integrate AI/ML software into supporting hardware for the
accomplishment of Aviation and Aerospace requirements
• Experience in UAS development and integration
• US Citizenship Required
• Ability to maintain a security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience or Masters Degree in a computer engineering, scientific, or aviation management field
• Working within a Research Environment at UAH
• Familiarity in a drone operational and training environment
• Familiarity with Agile Projection Development

Published Salary (if available):

$72,766 - $78,380
