Essential Job Functions: | 1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating. 2. Ensures successful interface between Banner payroll and Banner finance and between Kronos and Banner Payroll. 3. Ensures successful interface between Banner payroll and other ancillary systems such as third-party NRA taxing software. 4. Monitors, maintains, administers and troubleshoots the Kronos database system and provides training on the use of Kronos to coordinators and payroll staff. Monitors Ellucian (Banner) User Groups for current issues and future fixes, patches or upgrades. 5. Coordinates payroll testing when system upgrades and patches are to be implemented by OIIT to ensure the integrity of the payroll system. 6. Serves as liaison between payroll and OIIT personnel and outside technical staff trouble shooting problems. 7. Keeps current and knowledgeable of information regarding all payroll activities of the university, including current government regulations and NSU practices and policies. 8. Processes payroll for subsidiaries. Ensures accurate payments; all accounts are correctly debited or credited; all taxes are properly withheld and promptly deposited; all deductions are properly withheld and distributed to correct liability account, and payment processed. 9. Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements. 10. Develops and implements processes and reports to audit data quality, ensure accuracy, and increase productivity. 11. Writes queries and prepares reports using MS Access to assist with BANNER problems and retrieve Banner data. Reviews all payroll reports for detection of problems. 12. Researches and resolves payroll issues and inquiries with departmental contacts and other university personnel. 13. Creates and maintains reports to assist in the reconciliation of the W-2, 941, 940 and UCT-6 processes (employee and employer related payroll forms) and researches any discrepancies. 14. Works with auditors as needed to assist in fiscal year end processing. 15. Assists in the processing of W-2s and 1042s (Foreign Person Subject to Withholding) from Banner and in the distribution and production of corrected and reprinted forms. 16. Maintains data integrity and confidentiality. 17. Completes and acts as project leader for assigned projects. 18. Performs other duties and projects as assigned or required. |
