Department Summary & Job Purpose:
The Mount Holyoke College Investments Office is charged with the day-to-day management of the College’s endowment, which stands at roughly $1 billion today and serves as a critical financial resource for the College. The primary objective of the endowment is to provide perpetual support for the mission of Mount Holyoke by serving as a reliable source of funds for the operating budget while also growing assets for the future.
The Analyst will report to the Chief Investment Officer but will work under the close supervision of other senior investment team members as an integral part of the small generalist investment team, assisting with all functions (investment and operations) pertaining to the management of the portfolio. The Analyst has the opportunity to be a key member of an entrepreneurial, collaborative team and to gain wide-ranging exposure to all aspects of endowment management.
The Analyst plays a critical supporting role as a member of the investment team, helping to manage the endowment’s assets by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and information to support portfolio management and Investment research efforts and decisions; managing and honing the systems, processes, and tools utilized by the team to manage the portfolio and day-to-day workflow; and supporting the preparation of investment reports, memos, and investment committee materials.
The Analyst actively participates in investment research efforts, including vetting new funds and monitoring current investment partnerships. All team members function as generalists. Thus, the Investment Analyst will be able to gain exposure to all asset classes, including public equities, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, credit, and real assets.
Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist senior team in screening, selecting, and monitoring investment managers through background research, pipeline tracking, manager meetings, and portfolio analyses.
- Monitor, update, and create reports on investment performance, exposures, holdings, liquidity, and other key portfolio metrics.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for the Investment Committee and other stakeholders.
- Actively participate in manager meetings with responsibility for notes, memos, and follow-ups.
- Maintain internal databases and research management systems regularly.
- Oversee retention and organization of documents received from investment managers.
- Assume responsibility for conducting and leading ad hoc projects related to portfolio management, operations, and investment research.
- Oversee monthly performance reporting process through coordination with third-party.
- Assist the investment team with coordination of operational due diligence and legal review for prospective investments.

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree with a record of outstanding achievement. • 2 to 5 years of work experience, preferably in the investment industry. • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. • Entrepreneurial mindset interested in working in a collaborative, tight-knit, and dynamic team setting. • Self-starter attitude with the ability to take initiative and work independently. • High degree of intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in investing. • Desire to learn and be challenged through practical, hands-on work. • Strong data/quantitative prowess with excellent spreadsheet/Excel and analytical skills. • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional organization and quality.
