Job Summary
This is a part-time, temporary position meant to bridge a gap in staffing.
The Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Instructional Technology office (CFA-IT) is seeking an Extra Help IT Endpoint Support team member to provide on-site technical support for faculty, staff, students, and labs across the College of Fine Arts departments. We’re looking for a technically skilled problem-solver with a heart for service, someone who enjoys helping others, takes pride in resolving technical challenges, and thrives in a collaborative, creative academic environment. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our classrooms, studios, and offices running smoothly by delivering reliable, responsive, and approachable IT support.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Some prior experience supporting computer systems.
- A positive, customer service oriented and solution-focused demeanor.
- Demonstrated history of punctuality, effective communication, organization, and discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to precisely follow established procedures, even in high-pressure and time sensitive situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Progressively responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession OR college coursework in IT, IT Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude with a solid understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software, gained through academic study or hands-on experience.
- Proven ability to apply critical thinking and logical reasoning to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Experience with troubleshooting one or more of the following in a networked environment: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting configurations and services such as: DNS, VLANs, Active Directory (AD), Jamf, SCCM, InTune
- A track record of providing excellent customer support, with a focus on responsiveness, empathy, and problem-solving.
Work Hours
28 or less hours per week between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position is fully on-site and does not offer remote work, as it requires hands-on support in classrooms, labs, and offices across the College of Fine Arts.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Remain at a workstation (e.g. desk or lab) for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks and repairs.
- Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
- Move frequently between buildings, rooms, and workspaces across campus to provide in-person technical support.
- Squat, kneel, or crawl as needed to access equipment under desks, behind furniture, or in tight spaces.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

Special Instructions for Applicants
Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University’s supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
