About the Role

Work closely with the Department for Education, Children and Young People and the SFCU Investigator to contribute to the work of the SFCU and the Safe Homes Safe Families Support Teams. This includes distribution of family violence notifications to government and non-government schools and Child and Family Centres.

Period of Appointment

ASAP for 6 months

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

67.6 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)

• The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
   1. crimes of violence
   2. sex related offences
   3. serious drug offences
   4. crimes involving dishonesty
   5. serious traffic offences
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary actions in previous employment check.

• Approval to access the Family Violence Management System (FVMS) is an essential requirement of this position. The person nominated for this position is to satisfy pre-employment checks, by the Safe Families Coordination Unit, to ensure approval can be provided before taking up the appointment.

Desirable Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in education, social work or a related field would be an advantage.
