The Crew Supervisor (CS) will provide oversight and management for up to four Squad Leaders and 40 inmate Squad Members performing forestry, hazardous fuels reduction, and other related work. The CS will ensure effective communication among DFFM; Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) staff; and external partners.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Maintain a safe and equitable working environment, motivate staff, and contribute to the personal growth and professional development of squad leaders.
• Perform site visits to ADCRR facilities to oversee training of squad members. Maintain squad member personnel files
• Coordinate logistics, training, safety, and security. Develop and implement work and safety protocols, manage emergency preparedness and response, conduct safety audits.
• Supervise chainsaw operations that include felling trees and thinning brush. Supervise and train staff in the safe application of herbicide.
• Supervise forestry related work which may include carrying and using a 20 pound saw and other heavy hand tools; may carry a 40 pound backpack filled with gear and supplies; hiking in rough and steep terrain, and in inclement weather for an extended period of time; camping outdoors with few amenities.
• Ensure effective communication and implementation of the Incident Command System.
• Supervise the use, storage, and transport of heavy equipment and hazardous chemicals. Manage budgets and procure equipment and supplies.
• Collect and compile information to report on timekeeping, expenses, project outcomes, and incidents.
• Drive on State business.
• Other duties as assigned.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
A valid Arizona Driver's License.
Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
