Develops audit scopes, objectives and procedures in accordance with generally-accepted auditing standards (GAAS) and government audit standards (GAS). May provide testimony at formal or informal hearings. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and grant requirements. • Examines, investigates, and reviews records, reports, financial statements and management practices. • Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions. • Reports to management about asset utilization and audit results, and recommend changes in operations and financial activities. • Plans and organizes audit procedures. Performs statistical sampling of data. Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and present to leadership.
