Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor of Nursing is responsible for providing quality classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction while supporting student success, program effectiveness, and accreditation standards.

Teaching and Student Learning
• Deliver high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
• Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and principles of adult learning.
• Correlate theoretical concepts with clinical practice.
• Maintain current knowledge and clinical expertise within assigned teaching areas.
• Integrate current literature, technology, and innovative instructional methods into teaching.
• Review and recommend instructional resources, including textbooks, software, and simulation materials.
• Serve as a professional role model for students.

Curriculum Development and Assessment
• Participate in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the nursing curriculum.
• Develop and revise course syllabi, instructional materials, and learning activities.
• Collaborate with faculty to ensure continuity across the curriculum.
• Develop, administer, and analyze examinations for validity and effectiveness.
• Incorporate student performance data and course evaluations into continuous course improvement.

Student Support and Advising
• Advise and mentor pre-nursing and nursing students.
• Maintain accurate and timely student records.
• Participate in student registration, progression, and evaluation activities.
• Solicit and utilize student feedback to improve instruction.
Service and Professional Responsibilities
• Support the mission, philosophy, conceptual framework, and goals of the Nursing Program and Louisiana Delta Community College.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committees, accreditation activities, and program assessment.
• Maintain effective relationships with clinical affiliates, community partners, faculty, staff, and administration.
• Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, accountability, and timely completion of assigned duties.
• Participate in self, peer, student, and administrative evaluation processes.
• Maintain compliance with College policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Clinical Instruction Responsibilities
• Maintain clinical competence in assigned specialty areas.
• Supervise students in clinical settings while promoting safe, evidence-based patient care.
• Evaluate student clinical performance and provide timely feedback.
• Ensure clinical experiences align with course outcomes and program objectives.
• Maintain positive working relationships with clinical agency personnel.
• Promote professionalism, ethical behavior, and adherence to nursing standards in all clinical environments.

Required Education: Required Qualifications
• Current, unencumbered Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from regionally accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience demonstrating competence as a professional nurse.
• Clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
o Medical-Surgical Nursing
o Pediatrics
o Obstetrics/Maternal-Child Health
o Psychiatric Nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
• Proficiency with instructional technology and computer applications used for teaching, learning, and program administration.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Compliance with all College requirements related to liability insurance, CPR certification, and communicable disease control.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching in a Registered Nursing (ASN/ADN) program.
• Experience in curriculum design, development, and evaluation.
• Active participation in professional nursing organizations.
